BOSCO Kids PSALM -2014
Programme for School Animators, Leaders, & Mentors

 
A one day animation programme for Animators and Unit Leaders of Bosco Kids an annual event was held this year as well on 12 July 2014 at St. Charles School, Kammanahalli.  The programme was meant for all the animators and unit leader of Bosco Kids for this acdademic year.  The invitation for the programme was given to about 30 schools but only 11 schools turned up for the programme.  There were 20 animators and 90 students.  The day began with registration followed by a short inauguration ceremony.  In the ceremony Fr. Thomas Koonan was the Chief Guest.  The Principal of St. Charles School Sr. Sophia was not present as she had to go for another meeting.    After the inauguration ceremony Fr. Thomas Koonan the Vice-Provincial Animated the teachers on the topic Preventive System of Education of Don Bosco for the leader Mr. Vincent and Mr. Clarence both DB. Tech soft skill trainers animated the leaders on the Team Leadership.  The sessions concluded by lunch. 
 

The post lunch session was dedicated for election of Zonal and State office bearers.  Mrs. Louisa, Mrs. Daddamma and Mrs. Josline all Bosco Kids Animators conducted the election.  The first phase of  election was held at Zonal level and they elected the state office bearers.  The whole election was done well with not confusion or disregard.  The results of the election for state office bearers are as follows:

·         Master. Hrithik. M – State Vice President [Mariam Niliyaa School, Bansavadi]
·         Ms. Judith Blessy. B – State Secretary [Sacred Heart School, Jeevan Bheema Nagar]
·         Ms. Shiny Fernandes – State Joint Secretary [Mariam Niliyaa School, Bansavadi]
·         Ms. Maria Judy. J – State Treasure [Gulabi Girls’ High School, Jayamahal]
·         Master Vijay. M – State Boy Representative [St. Anthony’s School, Coles Park]
·         Ms. Sharon Jean. F – State Girl Representative  [Gulabi Girls’ High School, Jayamahal]

After the election all the office bearers gave a brief message.  Then Fr. Maria Anand proposed the vote of thanks.  The eventful day concluded with the Bosco Kids prayer and Pleadge said Ms. Kashifa the newly elected state president.  All the participants were provided with sumptuous lunch and tea.

International Youth Conference in Bonn, Germany, for Bosco Youth

 

Theme:            Tolerance – Respect – Acceptance / Migration, Refugees and Mobility 

Date:               20th January – 30th January 2013.
Finance:          All the expenses, except pocket money, will be borne by the organizers.
 

Criteria to take part in the conference:

 Ø  Age:  18 – 25
Ø  Motivated to discuss intellectual challenges and responsibilities of being a world citizen.
Ø  Fluency in English and communicate ideas and intellectual contribution towards the Conference.
Ø  Intercultural competence and interest to meet young people from all over the world.
Ø  Some experience in volunteering.
Ø  An active Bosco Youth involved in the youth movement and in the local community.
Ø  Willing to travel alone with proper permission from the parents.
Ø  Valid passport.

 
Only two youth will be selected to represent India. Out of these two, one will be from Bosco Youth, Karnataka.

Selection Process:

In order to choose the participant from Karnataka for the international conference, a symposium is organized on
Wednesday 24th October 2012 from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm
at (BREADS) Don Bosco, North Road, Bangalore.

Theme: Tolerance – Respect – Acceptance / Migration, Refugees and Mobility 

 

Participants need to present:

 Ø  A three-minute talk on the given theme
Ø  Effective participation in group discussion and debate

 Interested youth, please register your name by Sunday 21st October 2012.

The valedictory function of the Seventh All Karnataka Don Bosco Youth Meet at Don Bosco, Tumkur, was held on 29 April 2012.

“Be the change that you seek to see!” exhorted Rev. Dr. Thomas Anchukandam SDB (Provincial, Sacred Heart Province, Bangalore) as he delivered the presidential address. “My young friends, have dreams, be agents of change in your family, village, society, state and the country!” said Rt. Rev. Dr. Henry D’Souza (Chairman, Youth Commission, Karnataka Regional Catholic Bishops’ Conference), as he addressed the gathering. Ms Mary D’ Sousa, sharing her impressions about the Youth Meet said that though she had stepped in with a lot of apprehensions and inhibitions the meet was an enriching experience. Mr. Kumar Balaji (Don Bosco, Ashalaya) expressed feelings of gratitude and indebtedness to Don Bosco for all the services and help being rendered to youth all over. Mr. Kennedy Santhkumar (Minority Commission, Bangalore) assured cooperation and collaboration in the future.
Mr Yogesh Prasad (Mysore) and Manjula (Don Bosco, Hospet) were elected as President and Vice president of Karnataka Bosco Youth respectively. The other office bearers are: Ms Mary Jyothy (Bangalore), Mr Ravi (Bidar) and Mr Felix (Bhadravati). Fr. Konnanickad Michael led the oath taking ceremony.
Fr. Joy Nedumparambil (Regional Coordinator, DB Tech, Bosco South), Fr. Barthalomew S. (Parish Priest, Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Tumkur), Fr. Geo Kalladanthiyil (Administrator, Don Bosco, Tumkur) and Fr. Arul (Principal, Don Bosco School, Tumkur) were present for the function. Don Bosco, Yadgir, was declared as the venue for the next youth meet and the flag was handed over to Don Bosco Youth, Yadgir, by Don Bosco Youth, Tumkur. Mr Suresh (Don Bosco, Pavur) welcomed the gathering and Fr. Anil D’Sa (Director, Don Bosco Youth Services, Karnataka) proposed the vote of thanks.
The three-day youth convention had ‘Youth for a Better World’ (Eligeya Nadige Yuva Peelige), as its theme. Nearly five hundred youth and staff members from 35 Don Bosco centres across Karnataka participated in the programme.
